Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has shared her approach to parenting, saying she teaches her children to stand up for themselves and not allow anyone to bully them.
In a post shared on her social media on Saturday, June 7, 2025, Nyamu posted photos of herself having a good time with her kids, along with a message about how she is raising them.
Teaching self-defense early
In her caption, Nyamu explained that her children are not allowed to report being bullied unless they also say what they did to respond.
She said she wants them to be confident and firm while also learning not to be bullies themselves.
“I teach my babies to stand up for themselves. My babies are not allowed to come tell me someone bullied them or said nasty stuff to them unless they also say what they did about it,” she wrote.

She added that while she discourages being the aggressor, she supports her children defending themselves when necessary.
Confident son
Nyamu also shared a light moment about one of her sons, Sammy, who now looks forward to telling her when he stands up for himself.
“So now Sammy really looks forward to telling me he hit a boy back 😄 nyinyi ambieni tu wenyu wawaombee,” she added playfully.
The post showed Nyamu and her children smiling together, clearly enjoying their time and bonding as a family.
Encouraging responsibility
Nyamu said she believes in raising children who are aware of their rights and know how to protect themselves.
She added that being strong and respectful go hand in hand and that she reminds her kids never to start trouble but to handle it when it comes.
Her post gave her followers a personal look into how she balances her public life with motherhood. Many commented with support and encouragement, while others shared their own parenting experiences.
