Police arrest 2 yard managers and seize motorcycle parts in Kilifi raid

Police in Kilifi County have apprehended two yard managers following a crackdown in the Majengo area of Kilifi County.
In a statement on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, the National Police Service (NPS) confirmed the arrest, indicating that it was conducted by security officers drawn from Mtwapa Police Station.
Acting on a tip from the locals, the security enforcement officers raided several yards in a well-choreographed operation, where they recovered several motorcycle parts.

NPS detailed that the parts were concealed in gunny sacks within the premises. The two managers are expected to be processed before their arraignment.
“During the operation, two scrap metal yards were raided. A thorough search led to the recovery of one motorcycle and several motorcycle parts, which had been concealed in plastic sacks,” the NPS statement read in part.
“Two managers of the respective yards were arrested and remain in police custody pending processing and court arraignment,” it added.

At the same time, NPS appreciated the area residents for raising suspicion about the said operation.
“We commend members of the public for providing information that led to the arrests and recovery,” the National Police Service (NPS) said in a statement posted on X.
Other cases
In a similar case in August 2024, DCI detectives in Kitale recovered dismantled motorcycle parts and arrested two people after a tip-off, highlighting the ongoing fight against such crimes.
Also, in April 2023, Kericho police recovered six stolen motorcycles from a rental house, arresting one person after a tip-off. In September 2020, police again arrested three members of a vehicle theft syndicate in Mombasa, recovering a stolen car, showing a pattern of such crimes in the region.
These raids show that community tips and police action can make a real difference. The NPS has thus committed to keeping the public safe.
“The National Police Service remains committed to serving and protecting the public,” their statement ended with a promise.
