Ruto: If you want me to go, tell me how
President William Ruto has expressed his frustrations with those calling for him to step down from the presidency and go despite having more than two years left to serve.
Speaking during World MSME Day on Friday, June 27, 2025, Ruto wondered where and how he should go, noting that those demanding he vacate office have no plan at all to address the country’s challenges.
“If it is Ruto must go, tell me how you want me to go. What do you mean by Ruto must go? How do I go? Ruto posed.
Get a better plan
“We have a constitution in place. If you want Ruto to go, please my simple advice to you is to look for a better plan. Violence and anarchy will not sort out our problems.”
Reacting to the demonstrations on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, the head of state observed that there was no success in the matter, stating that many businesses were destroyed, people killed, and many others injured.

He challenged the plotters of the protests to come up with solutions better than his, stating that change in power of only be done at the ballot.
“For those who want power, the constitution is clear: elections will come. Formulate a better plan, convince the people of Kenya, and win fairly. That is how change happens in a democracy,” Ruto remarked.
“Replacing a working plan that you may not like with no plan or with hate and violence will only make things worse, not better.”
Decisive action on looters
“If you want me to go, develop a better plan that creates more jobs than the one I have, brings down the cost of living than the one I have, one that brings more opportunities for the young people of Kenya than the one I have,” he added.
During his speech, Ruto equally warned that his government would take decisive and firm action on individuals who participated in the wanton destruction of livelihoods in the guise of protests.
He urged the country to rally in condemning the violence and destruction of property that was witnessed in Nairobi and a few other areas around the country.
