Beauty mogul and digital content creator Carey Priscillah has shared insights into some of the more unconventional teachings she encountered during her spiritual upbringing, revealing that one of the most striking beliefs she was raised with was that individuals who were unwell should not be taken to a hospital.

Speaking during an interview with YouTuber Shiku Gitau on Friday, May 30, 2025, Carey spoke in depth about the deeply rooted views on medical care that shaped her early years, explaining that she later stepped away from these teachings as she grew older and gained broader exposure to the world beyond her faith-based community.

According to Carey, she once believed that seeking professional medical help was unnecessary, but she has since come to deeply appreciate the role of healthcare, which is why she now does not hesitate to take her children to the hospital whenever they are unwell.

“Is there something that you grew up being taught or a parenting method that you feel you cannot apply to your children?” Shiku Gitau asked.

“Being a Mokorino, going to hospital—have you ever heard of that? Yes, but now I do take my children to the hospital, and indeed I still trust God who heals, but I believe He works through doctors as His vessels,” Carey said, merging her enduring faith with her evolved understanding of health and wellness.

Spiritual background

Additionally, Carey reflected on the influence of her faith-based upbringing, noting that the beliefs she was raised with did not create any major challenges in her relationship with her now husband, Benito Muriu, when they first met.

She shared that Benito was sincerely interested in learning more about her spiritual background and quickly embraced it, approaching her traditions and experiences with both respect and enthusiasm.

“My husband is incredible; he was genuinely keen to learn about my religion, and now we attend the Akorino church together, where he sings and jumps with the rest of the congregation,” she said, painting a vivid picture of shared devotion and joyful worship.

Carey on having more kids

This revelation comes just months after Carey announced that she was officially concluding her journey of childbearing after welcoming three children in quick succession.

Taking to their YouTube channel, in November 2024, the mother of three dramatically declared her retirement from baby-making duties with a flair that captivated her followers.

Carey revealed that her husband, Benito, would have to undergo a vasectomy or endure what she described as the “ultimate lockdown”—a literal metal chastity belt secured with a lock and key.

She asserted that it was high time for her husband to step up and share responsibility for family planning.

“I have done my part, bringing three babies into the world back-to-back, and now I am closed for business. Ben has to book that vasectomy appointment. Until then, I will be wearing this—yes, even the one with the butt enhancement—and I will hide the key,” Carey declared with playful yet resolute determination.

The YouTube star and beauty entrepreneur even offered her followers a glimpse of the shiny brown-golden metallic contraption she intends to wear whenever her husband is near. For the Akorino model, this gleaming “protection” is her surefire way of ensuring no more unplanned blessings join their family.

Benito, on the other hand, appeared less than thrilled by his wife’s novel approach to family planning.

“What is this metal for?” he asked, clearly puzzled.

“This stays on until you get your vasectomy. I have sacrificed enough by carrying and birthing our children. Now it is your turn—go book that appointment,” the mother of three told her husband, delivering her ultimatum with unmistakable clarity and conviction.
