Comedian Wololo rules out collab with Mayoyo after bitter split

Kenyan comedian King Julius, popularly known as Wololo, has openly declared that he would never collaborate with fellow content creator Mayoyo, citing unresolved differences that date back to the early stages of their careers.
Fallout
In a candid interview aired on Friday, June 6, 2025, King Julius, real name Julius Ochieng, was asked which comedian he would refuse to work with. Without hesitation, he named Mayoyo.
“We had some disagreements when we were starting out around 2020,” Julius explained. “It wasn’t a physical fight or anything serious. We just disagreed and decided to go our separate ways. Since then, we’ve never spoken.”
When pressed on whether he considered himself wronged or the one at fault, Julius remained diplomatic.
“It depends on his perspective versus mine. Both of us probably think we did the right thing,” he said, emphasising the complexity of their fallout.
No reconciliation
Despite describing himself as generally forgiving, Julius was clear that he does not foresee a reconciliation happening anytime soon.
“Maybe never,” he admitted when asked if they might one day bury the hatchet.

His remarks stirred reactions on social media, with some fans praising his honesty and others encouraging the two comedians to reconcile for the betterment of the comedy scene.
Struggle for respect
Beyond the feud, Julius used the interview to shed light on the wider challenges facing comedians in Kenya. He lamented the profession’s lack of respect and the misconception that comedy is not a serious career.
“Being a comedian is laughable to some people,” he said. “They expect you to just crack jokes on sight. It’s hard to be taken seriously.”
He further highlighted how even comedians earning more than CEOs often do not enjoy the same respect as professionals like doctors or accountants.
Julius also criticised corporations and event organisers for undervaluing comedians financially, urging them to compensate creatives fairly.
Household of seventeen
During the interview, Julius also revealed that he is one of 17 siblings. “I’m somewhere in the middle. Maybe number 10 or 11, I’m not even sure,” he laughed.
He recounted the confusion that came with growing up in such a large family. “My dad would go through three or four names before landing on the right one. By the time he said ‘Julius,’ he’d be staring straight at me,” he joked.
King Julius, who rose to fame through skits under the name Wololo, once worked with Mayoyo during their early days in content creation. The two have since gone separate ways, but Julius’s wit remains sharp, and his cooking skills, as he teased in the interview, might just be his next big reveal.
